Mr. Grunfeld is a Partner, Morgan Lewis Litigation Practice. He focuses his practice on commercial litigation and counsels clients in a variety of industries, including healthcare, entertainment, energy, hospitality, and civil rights. He also acts as an advisor and strategist to clients with regard to litigation, trial, and settlement issues and has served as lead counsel in high-profile litigation matters. Mr. Grunfeld dedicates a portion of his practice to the development of strategies and opportunities in the areas of life sciences, green technology and alternative energy, and nonprofits. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Grunfeld was a partner in and co-chair of the litigation department of another international law firm, where he was also co-managing partner of its Los Angeles and Palo Alto offices. From 2007 to 2009, he served as a member of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s four person Executive Team, where he prioritized and implemented the mayor’s policy agenda in sectors such as energy and environment, economic development, homelessness prevention, and job creation.
Mr. Grunfeld also previously served for nine years as the president and chief executive officer of Public Counsel—the nation’s largest pro bono public interest law firm—where the firm more than doubled in size and expanded its scope nationally and internationally during his tenure.
Mr. Grunfeld earned his J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1986 and his B.S., summa cum laude, from Drexel University in 1982. Mr. Grunfeld is admitted to practice in California.
